An investigation is continuing following a fatal collision near Market Harborough this morning (Wednesday 25 March).

Police were called to a stretch of the B6047 – between the junctions with The Langtons and the A6 – just after 4.50am, after it was reported that a silver Ford Focus had collided with a railway bridge.

The driver, a man in his 40s, was the sole occupant and pronounced dead at the scene.

A road closure was put in place to allow officers to carry out further enquiries. It has since reopened. The rail network has not been affected.

Police say they are keen to speak to anyone who was on that road early this morning and witnessed the collision. Officers would also like to speak to anyone who has dashcam footage of the Ford prior to the collision occurring.
