Three men have been arrested after a two-and-a-half-year-old Belgian Malinois with Nottinghamshire police sniffed them out.
Police say they were called shortly after 3am on Monday by a member of the public after a group of people were reported to have abandoned a car.
PD Seth, who’s only been in the role for a year, tracked the men along a riverbank, through a field and over multiple fences in the dark - before they were found on Snape Lane, in Scrooby.
Two suspects were immediately detained and a third was apprehended a short time later.
They remain in custody on suspicion of aggravated burglary, dangerous driving and failing to stop.
A car containing a significant amount of cannabis was found nearby.
Inspector Tim Ringer, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was another outstanding bit of work by Seth who continues to go from strength to strength with us.
“One of his best recent results was a similar track along a busy main road – so it’s great to see him outdoing himself with such a lengthy track in almost total darkness.
“In situations like this police dogs and their handlers really do come into their own.”
Seth, who has a growing reputation as an outstanding tracker, was placed on his long lead and led his handler across the ground and through dense undergrowth in the darkness for more than 20 minutes until stopping at a hedgerow.
