Teen boy found dead outside Stranraer hospital

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

A teenage boy was found dead outside the Galloway Community Hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Emergency services pronounced the 17-year-old dead at the scene - they are not treating it as suspicious.

His family is aware, and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A spokesperson from the health board says, "We are deeply saddened to learn that a member of the public has died on the site of Galloway Community Hospital. Our heartfelt thoughts are with their family and loved ones at this very difficult time.

Police Scotland is the lead agency, and all enquiries should be directed to them."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.20am on Sunday, 17 August, we received a report of an unresponsive person in the Dalrymple Street area of Stranraer.

“Emergency services attended, and a 17-year-old male youth was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin are aware.

“Enquiries are ongoing, but there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
