Stranraer pedestrian who died in crash named

Police continue to investigate Sheuchan Street collision.

An 85-year-old pedestrian who died after a crash in Stranraer on Saturday, 3rd January, 2026, has been named as Margaret Joy Todd, known as Joy.

Joy, from Stranraer, was involved in a collision with a white Vauxhall Vivaro van. The driver of the van was uninjured.

Police and emergency services attended the crash at around 10.20am on Sheuchan Street, near the junction with Park Lane.

The road was closed for crash investigation work and reopened at approximately 7.15pm later that day.

Sergeant Scott Costley said: “Our thoughts remain with Joy’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“We continue to investigate this crash and would ask anyone who saw what happened, and hasn’t yet spoken to officers, to please get in touch. Any relevant dash-cam or video footage should also be shared with us as soon as possible.”
