Police charge youths in connection with fire at derelict Dumfries building

A derelict building in Dumfries was set alight by youths yesterday - and two boys have been charged in connection.
Fire crews had to deploy three appliances for the blaze on the first floor at the former Nithbank Hospital.
Emergency services attended to the incident and left after making the area safe again.
We've been told the "relevant authorities" will be sent a report.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Two boys have been charged in connection with a fire at a derelict building in Dumfries.
“Police were called to the report of a fire there around 3.40pm on Thursday, 18 September, 2025.
A report will be sent to the relevant authorities.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 3.08pm on Thursday, 18 September to reports of a fire affecting the first floor of a derelict building on Craigs Road, Dumfries.
"Operations Control mobilised three appliances to the scene.
"Crews left after making the area safe."
