Two men arrested after cannabis plants worth thousands found in Newton Stewart

Drugs recovery estimated to value over £360,000

Two men have been arrested and charged following the discovery of cannabis plants worth over £360,000 in Newton Stewart.

Officers executed a warrant at a property on Victoria Street around 11am on Tuesday, 9th June 2026.

During the search, police uncovered a cannabis cultivation operation containing 614 plants estimated to have a street value of £368,400.

The arrested men, aged 37 and 22, will face charges at Stranraer Sheriff Court today, 10th June 2026.

Investigations are continuing as further enquiries remain underway.

Detective Inspector Graeme Robertson said: “This was a significant recovery which highlights our commitment to tackling the supply and distribution of illegal substances on our streets. We will continue to take proactive action to remove drugs from our communities.

“Intelligence from the public is vital. If you have any information about drugs, please bring it to the attention of the police. We will fully investigate and take the appropriate action.”
