Man who died in Langholm car crash named

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 36-year-old man who was killed in the A7 crash near Langholm earlier this week has been identified as Sam Cropper.

The incident occurred at around 11:35am on Tuesday, 4 November, close to Briery Bank, and involved a green Toyota Hilux and a white Scania HGV.

Cropper, who was driving the Hilux, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 55-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but his condition is now described by medical staff as stable.

The driver of the Scania HGV was unharmed.

The road was closed for investigation and reopened at around 11:55pm.

Sergeant Colin Ramage said: “Our thoughts remain with Sam’s family and friends at this difficult time, as well as the man who suffered serious injuries.

"We continue to carry out extensive enquiries into this crash and I’d appeal to anyone with information or dash-cam footage to come forward.”
