One man dead and another critical after crash on A75 near Annan

A 66-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision on Thursday afternoon

One man has died and another is fighting for life in hospital, following a crash on the A75 at Annan on Thursday afternoon.

At around 1.50pm a red Suzuki Ignis and a black Nissan Pulsar collided west of the Annan east junction.

Emergency crews were called to the scene, where the 66-year-old Suzuki driver was pronounced dead.

The 56-year-old man who was behind the wheel of the Nissan was taken to hospital, where staff describe his condition as critical but stable.

The road was closed for crash investigation work and re-opened around 10.20pm.

Sergeant Neil Moffat said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died and they have asked for privacy at this difficult time.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances and we are asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch. In addition, if you have dash-cam please check it to see if there I anything that could assist our investigation.”
