A man has been arrested and charged following a significant cash seizure in Dumfries and Galloway.

Officers stopped a Peugeot car travelling southbound on the A74 near Lockerbie and seized £85,000 during a search.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with money laundering. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A spokesman said: "This activity highlights our efforts to disrupt the activities of anyone involved in criminal activity.

"Our proactive efforts to tackle criminality in our communities is a daily focus and the assistance of the public is key to helping us identify and target those involved.
