Lifeboat crews respond to vessel fire report near Mull of Galloway
Casualty vessel occupants safely ashore after fire scare
A lifeboat crew was dispatched following reports of a small vessel on fire near Drummore in Luce Bay on Sunday 24th May.
The crew received the page at 13:37 and launched approximately 10 minutes later, making their way swiftly around the Mull of Galloway to the incident location.
Upon arrival, the lifeboat team met with the Port William Inshore Rescue Service (PIRSAC), who had identified a burning fuel tank and fire-damaged waders floating in the water.
However, there was no sign of the vessel reported to be in distress.
The Belfast Coastguard subsequently informed both crews that the vessel's occupants had reached the shore safely, and everyone was accounted for.

With no further action needed, the lifeboat was stood down and returned to the station at 16:05.
The crew took the necessary steps to refuel and prepare the lifeboat for future emergencies.
This incident serves as a reminder to all those venturing onto the water to carry suitable communication devices and safety equipment to ensure preparedness for potential emergencies.
