A new guide dog puppy has been named Gus in memory of Margaret "Gus" Davidson, a cherished volunteer at the Guide Dogs for the Blind Dumfries and Galloway branch for over 20 years.

Following the news of Gus's passing last year, the group launched a fundraising effort specifically to name a new puppy in her honour.

Gus, who was affectionately known for her large personality and enthusiastic support, contributed to the organisation by raising ten puppies, fostering, fundraising, and offering moral support to fellow volunteers.

The team said she left a lasting impression on everyone she met, turning acquaintances into firm friends, and was known for her welcoming smile and engaging stories.

The new puppy named Gus is reportedly already a bit of a character and poised to follow in the footsteps of his namesake by becoming a transformative guide dog.

Those familiar with Gus Davidson are encouraged to spread the word about this tribute to her impactful legacy.
