Fresh application for McDonald’s in Cairnryan to be submitted soon
The application was withdrawn earlier.
McDonald’s advisers are going back to the drawing board to make a fresh application for Cairnryan.
This follows the announcement this morning made by the council’s Planning and Development Manager, who said the proposal that was supposed to go before councillors on Thursday was withdrawn.
Some campaigners were emailed by the council, saying, “Accordingly. It will not be considered at Thursday’s meeting.”
If plans were given the green light, it would create jobs for locals.
Although some people in the Cairnryan/Stranraer area are pleased that plans are in limbo, one woman says she will be writing to agents in Edinburgh.
There are various concerns from people living in the village, such as the build-up of traffic and littering.
Some have suggested it might be better suited for somewhere like Stranraer or Newton Stewart.
According to a council spokesperson, there are some issues raised by consultees that need to be addressed first, before submitting another application, which they will do in due course.
A council spokesperson said: “We can confirm that the agents for McDonald’s were instructed by their clients to withdraw their current application.
“The agent has indicated that their client’s wish to amend the proposal to address issues raised by consultees and that they intend submitting a fresh application in due course once this has been done.”
