Firefighters tackle grass fire near Creetown in Galloway

A grass fire on farmland near Creetown in Galloway prompted a fast response from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service last Friday evening.

Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances to address the well-developed fire that spanned approximately 200 metres.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 8.54pm on Friday, 24 April, to reports of a fire at a farm near to Creetown in Galloway.

"At its height, Operations Control mobilised three appliances to the scene, where firefighters worked to extinguish a well-developed grass fire of approximately 200 metres in length.

"There were no reported casualties and crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe."

No injuries were reported, and the area was confirmed to be safe by the attending fire crews.
