Man charged after police officer hit by car in Dumfries
The man is due to appear before Dumfries Sheriff Court on Thursday
A man has been charged in connection with an incident that saw a police officer being hit by a car in Dumfries on Monday morning (July 28th).
Police Scotland confirmed on Wednesday (July 30th) that a man had been arrested and charged in relation to the incident.
During the incident, which took place on Monday morning at around 1:20 am, an officer was hit by a car.
The officer had been helping a member of the public in Herries Avenue at the time when he was then hit by the car.
After the incident, the police officer was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for his injuries, which were described as "serious but not life-threatening". Doctors have now described his condition as stable.
Following the collision, Police Scotland launched an appeal for information and witnesses, which culminated in a 26-year-old man being arrested and charged.
The suspect is now expected to appear before Dumfries Sheriff Court on Thursday (July 31st) in connection to the incident.
