Annandale area rife with break-ins and thefts
A 37-year-old man was arrested in connection, but later released pending investigation.
Detectives are investigating a series of break-ins and thefts at rural properties in the Annandale area.
Police received a report of a break-in to a property in the Waterbeck area on Wednesday, 3 September 2025, where a small amount of cash was stolen from a vehicle, a quad bike was pinched, a car was broken into, and there was an attempt made to steal a van as well, all in the
There was also a report of an attempted theft of a car at an industrial estate on Silerlaw, Annan, and of a “suspicious vehicle in Canonbie.”
While enquiries remain ongoing, a 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection but later released pending further investigation.
Detective Inspector Scott Wilson said, “Thefts like this can severely impact rural communities.
“Our investigation remains ongoing, and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed anything to contact us.
"We also ask anyone with dash-cam footage that could assist our enquiries to come forward.
