Woman targeted in Bournemouth sexual assault and stalking incident
A man's been arrested as police continue investigations
A woman's been targeted in an alleged stalking and sexual assault incident in Bournemouth.
The victim, in her 20s, was approached by a man on Meyrick Road, at around 7.00pm on Tuesday 18th February.
He's believed to have made inappropriate comments towards her, and then followed her as she ran away in the direction of Elizabeth Court.
When they reached an enclosed footpath, he reportedly touched her over her clothing.
The victim ran away again, towards Bath Road.
A 26 year old man from Bournemouth has since been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and stalking.
He's been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Detective Constable Merryn Matthews, of BCP CID, said: “A full investigation has been ongoing into this incident and we are supporting the victim as enquiries continue.
“During the incident, a member of the public intervened after reportedly hearing the victim shouting as she tried to leave the scene. I am keen to speak to this person, and anyone he was with at the time, as they may have important information to assist my investigation.”
