Witnesses sought after rock is thrown at bus in Bournemouth

Incident caused window damage near Holdenhurst Road

Police are looking for witnesses after damage was caused to a bus travelling through Bournemouth when rocks were thrown at it.

The damage occurred around 7.30pm on Friday 23rd January 2026, as the bus travelled through Holdenhurst Road.

Two men wearing black hooded jackets are reported to have thrown a rock at the bus, which resulted in damage to its windows but did not cause any injuries.

Police Constable James Allcroft-Reid of Dorset Police commented on the danger such actions carry, saying: “Throwing items at a bus is completely unacceptable and could have serious consequences, resulting in someone being injured.

“Not only do these reckless actions cause a risk to the community, they also impact on the bus company and their ability to safely serve the public.

“We are carrying out enquiries into this incident in Holdenhurst Road and would urge witnesses or anyone with information about who is involved to please come forward.”
