Witnesses sought after reported assault in Weymouth
Investigations continue as a Birmingham man is charged
Police are seeking witnesses following an alleged assault that occurred outside a Weymouth shop.
A female member of staff was reportedly assaulted at approximately 7.40pm on Saturday 15th August 2026 outside the Food Warehouse located in Jubilee Retail Park.
The victim did not experience serious injuries.
Following the incident, a man aged in his 50s from Birmingham was arrested at the scene.
He has been charged with assault by beating and is scheduled to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 1st October 2026.
Appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage
Police Constable Megan Gardner from Weymouth police stated that investigations are ongoing and emphasised the presence of several people nearby at the time of the assault.
“We are continuing to carry out enquiries into this incident and I understand there were a number of people in the area when it occurred," Gardner said.
She encouraged anyone who has not yet contacted the police to come forward and additionally appealed to motorists with dashcam footage captured around the Jubilee Retail Park during the relevant time.
“I would also urge any motorists with dashcam who were in the area of the Jubilee Retail Park around the relevant time to please review their footage to see if they have captured anything that might assist our investigation,” Gardner said.
