Dorset Police investigate two serious collisions in Bournemouth and Poole
Police investigate incidents that left a cyclist and pedestrian with life-changing injuries

Police have issued appeals for information following two serious collisions in Bournemouth and Poole yesterday (Friday, 19th December).
Cyclist injured in Bournemouth collision
The first incident took place at 8.39am on the slip road from the Cooper Dean Roundabout to the northbound carriageway of the A338 and involved a white Volkswagen Golf and a cyclist.
The cyclist, a woman in her 50s, was taken to hospital where her injuries have been reported as life-changing.
A woman in her 40s was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Emergency services attended the scene and road closures were in place until the road was reopened at around 12.45pm.
Police Constable Josh Alner, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are carrying out a full investigation to establish the circumstances of this collision.
"I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police, or any motorists who may have captured relevant dashcam footage, to please contact us.
“I would also like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures.”
Pedestrian injured in Poole collision
Later that morning, Dorset Police responded to a separate collision in Poole at 10.28am involving a silver Volkswagen Polo and a pedestrian at Sopwith Crescent, near the junction with Oakley Straight in Merley.
The pedestrian, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries. His family has been informed.
Road closures were put in place while emergency services attended the scene and were lifted at around 1.30pm.
Police Constable Calum Maton, also from the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are investigating the full circumstances surrounding this collision and I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or who may have captured relevant dashcam footage.
“I would also like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures.”
