Three bus services in Weymouth will be diverted from Monday 19th October while Dorchester Road is closed for gas mains replacement.

First Bus said the road will be fully closed from that date.

The work is being carried out by Scotia Gas Networks and is due to continue until March 2027, with a break over the festive season.

Services 2, 10 and X51 will use an alternative route.

George Burton, Head of Network for First Bus, said: "We have held discussions with the council highways team to help keep diversions as simple as possible and minimise the disruption to journeys."

He said: "We appreciate the patience and support of our customers while these route changes are in place."

Festive break and reopening

All works will be suspended over Christmas, from 19th December to 3rd January 2027.

That will allow the three services to return to their normal route.

It is hoped Dorchester Road will reopen southbound from 4th January 2027.

If that happens, First Bus said it is making plans to enable buses to operate on that carriageway.

George Burton said: "Customers are advised to check our website for updates and we aim to give as much notice as possible to help with planning journeys."
