An observation wheel, the latest attraction to be added to Weymouth Beach will open to the public from today (Tuesday 29th April) - now all of those final checks have been carried out.

There'll be an official launch later this evening, at 5pm, when the operator will open the attraction offering the first 50 people a chance to ride for free on a first come first serve basis.

It stands a staggering 26 metres high and can hold up to 108 passengers when full.

It promises stunning views of the skyline.

Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Jon Orrell, pictured with operator Sara Hall, said: “The observation wheel is one of the tallest attractions on the beach offering fantastic views of Weymouth’s iconic Jurassic coastline.

“We are pleased to see this new attraction opening on the beach for the very first time, which complements the other seasonal rides. It will offer something for all ages for residents and visitors alike.”
