Over £4k stolen in break-in at Weymouth arcade

Machines damaged and cash taken during burglary on The Esplanade

A man wearing a balaclava broke into an arcade on The Esplanade in Weymouth between 2.40am and 6am on Thursday 1st January 2026.

According to Dorset Police, 16 machines inside the arcade were damaged during the burglary, and £4,000 was stolen in cash.

The damage caused is estimated to cost £10,000 to repair.

Police Constable Aaron Strange said, “We are carrying out enquiries into this break-in and I am appealing to anyone with information to please come forward.

“I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity along the seafront in the early hours of Thursday 1st January 2026 or captured any relevant CCTV or dashcam footage from the areas of Brunswick Terrace, Greenhill or Lennox Street.”
