Update after fire breaks out at Bourne Valley Nature Reserve
A crew remains on site this morning, as the incident is scaled down
Fire crews have issued an update after a significant fire broke out at Bourne Valley Nature Reserve in Poole, affecting a large area of heathland.
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service reported that it received the first of 60 emergency calls regarding the fire at 3.07pm on 6th July.
The fire initially covered approximately 200 metres by 100 metres of the nature reserve.
By 7pm, the efforts to contain the fire had been scaled down to six relief appliances, and the fire was officially stopped by 7.55pm.
In total, around 3 hectares of land has been affected by the blaze, according to Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue.
In a recent update provided at 8.45am on 7th July, hotspots were discovered last night during a reinspection, which prompted further action.
A crew from Redhill Park extinguished the hotspots using a hose reel jet.
However, additional hotspots were reported at 8.16am today, and a crew from Redhill Park remains on site addressing these with one hose reel jet.
