Detectives investigating a reported assault in Christchurch have confirmed that no charges will be brought against two people initially arrested in connection with the case.

The incident was reported to Dorset Police at 10.37pm on 29th December 2025, following claims that a man in his 40s had sustained stab wounds in Dennistoun Avenue.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment, and initial enquiries led to the arrest of a 33-year-old man from Christchurch and a 35-year-old woman from Poole on suspicion of attempted murder.

Both were released on police bail.

Further investigations were carried out, including reviewing CCTV footage and talking to local witnesses.

Police have now confirmed that the two arrested individuals have been released without charge and will face no further police action in connection with the incident.

Officers liaised with the victim to provide support and police say he does not wish the case to proceed at this time.
