Two people have been charged after a serious assault in Weymouth.
Two men in their 20s sustained suspected stab wounds in Maiden Street at 2.50am on 14 June.
Their injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening and they were taken to hospital for treatment.
An 18-year-old man from London has been charged with attempted murder and wounding with intent.
He appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court yesterday (4 July) and is next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on 7 August.
Another 18-year-old man, also from London, has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and appeared at Brighton Magistrates' Court yesterday (4 July). He is next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on 1 August.
A 16-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 30-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender remain on police bail.
Detective Inspector Ben Griffin, of Dorset County CID, said: “Following detailed enquiries, we have consulted with the Crown Prosecution, which has authorised charges against two individuals in this case.
“I want to thank members of the public who shared and responded to our appeals for information during this investigation.
“This matter will be subject to active court proceedings and it is vital that the justice process is allowed to follow it’s course. We would therefore urge members of the public to refrain from speculation or commentary relating to this case, particularly online and on social media.”
