Two men have been sentenced for their involvement in a stabbing incident in Weymouth that left two victims with serious injuries.

Jurjingo Berisha, 18, from Basildon, and Arjol Haxhija, 19, from Dagenham, appeared at Winchester Crown Court yesterday (8 May) and were found guilty of wounding with intent.

Berisha received a total of 12 years for grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon, while Haxhija was sentenced to 10 years for similar offences.

The attack took place in the early hours of 14th June 2025 outside the King of Hearts nightclub on St Alban Street in Weymouth.

One victim was stabbed in the chest and suffered life-changing injuries, including the removal of his spleen, while the other sustained a stab wound to his lower back.

Both victims received urgent medical attention at different locations within the town.

Detectives from Dorset County Criminal Investigation Department identified the attackers through CCTV footage, which also showed the suspects entering a nearby address prior to the assault.

Public support was crucial in the investigation, providing valuable information that led to the suspects' arrest and successful prosecution.

Detective Inspector Ben Griffin praised the victims and public for their courage and assistance in the case.

The detective also reinforced the police's commitment to removing knives from the streets and pursuing those who choose to carry them.
