Firefighters tackle blaze in thatched cottage in Mosterton
Crews work to control the fire and salvage items after call-out in Beaminster area
Firefighters rushed to the scene of a thatch fire in a cottage on Chedington Lane, Mosterton, after a call was received at 2.41pm on 19th March.
At one point, 19 fire appliances were involved in the operation, including fire engines, an aerial ladder platform, a water carrier, and support units.
Around 60 firefighters were in attendance as they worked to create fire breaks and protect belongings.
Teams from Yeovil, Bridport, Chard, Ilminster, Sherborne, Charmouth, Dorchester, Lyme Regis, and Beaminster joined the effort, employing hose reel jets and compressed air foam systems while wearing breathing apparatus for protection.
In the early hours of 20th March, crews remained on site with thermal imaging cameras and gas monitoring equipment to track any hotspots.
Firefighting activities are gradually being reduced to eight crews as efforts continue to extinguish the fire and salvage items from the property.
The incident location is on Chedington Lane, Mosterton, in the Beaminster area of the UK.
