A teenage boy is in hospital with life-changing injuries after a crash in Weymouth.
It happened on The Esplanade, near the Jubilee Clock Tower, just before 5.30pm yesterday (Thursday 10th April) - involving a van and a cyclist.
The rider was airlifted for treatment and his family's been informed.
A man arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and driving offences has been released under investigation.
Detective Constable Matt Barrett, of Dorset County CID, said: “We are carrying out a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances of this incident and I am keen to hear from anyone with information that might assist our enquiries.
“We understand there were a number of people in the area at the time and I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision, or the moments leading up to it, to please get in touch if you have not already spoken to police.
“I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have captured relevant dashcam footage.
“Finally, we would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures, which were put in place to allow the emergency services to respond and for us to investigate this incident.”
