A 14-year-old boy is in hospital with possible “life-changing injuries” after a serious crash on the A35 near Bridport.

The collision took place yesterday afternoon at around 4:45pm and involved a black Volkswagen Golf and the boy, who was a pedestrian.

Road closures were put in place to allow the emergency services to respond to this incident near the junction with Shipton Road.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward following the serious road traffic collision.

Police Sergeant Michael Burt, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this collision to establish the full circumstances and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please contact us.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was driving in the area and may have seen the vehicle before the incident or captured relevant dashcam footage.

“I want to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures.”
