Sea Life Weymouth says it remains closed today after a nearby fire at an electricity substation.
Teams at the aquarium say the blaze was contained to an outside area and didn't spread to any of its building.
Firefighters were called to the scene at Greenhill, near the skatepark, yesterday afternoon - and have been dampening down hotspots overnight.
The statement from Sea Life Weymouth confirmed: "Following a fire at an electricity substation on land adjacent to SEA LIFE Weymouth, the aquarium will remain closed on Monday 13th July.
"The fire was contained to an outside area, and did not spread to the aquarium buildings.
"No employees or guests were harmed by this incident, and all animals remain safe and well in our care.
"The aquarium will re-open to guests once it has been confirmed it is safe to do so."
In their latest update at 7:40pm last night (12/07), fire crews said: "The stop message has been received. 12 firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have used two hose reels, two main jets and foam to extinguish the fire.
"We remain in attendance at this incident, although we are scaling this back to three fire engines.
"Firefighters will remain on scene for several hours dampening down."
