Poole's Twin Sails bridge is to reopen from 2pm today (February 2nd), after months of repairs.
The bridge has been closed to traffic since August last year (2025) after a routine inspection found abnormal creaking noises.'
BCP Council say now repairs have now been completed and safety testing carried out the bridge can return to normal operation and re-open for all traffic.
The Council added that teams have worked day and night to carry out the repairs and "have had to await the arrival of specialist materials to complete the final phases."
Repairs to the bridge last year were delayed due to issues with the manufacturing of supplies.
In a statement in December BCP Council said: “There has been a delay, outside of the Council’s control, relating to a key process in the manufacturing of the components from our supplier.
"This process must happen to ensure the components meet the required safety standards needed to be installed."
The Council have also thanked residents for "their continued patience" while the essential repairs were carried out.
