Image released to trace potential witness in Poole man's death investigation
Detectives seek help identifying a witness in the ongoing investigation into Bournemouth man's death
Detectives have released a CCTV image as part of an investigation into the death of a Bournemouth man in Poole, almost a year after the incident.
Dorset Police were alerted to a man found unresponsive in a tent in a wooded area off Holes Bay Road at 8.12am on Thursday, 3rd April 2025.
Despite the efforts of the emergency services, the man, aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Enquiries revealed the man had been assaulted in Chapel Lane, Poole, around 1.15pm on Wednesday, 2nd April 2025.
A 19-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of murder but has been released under investigation as detectives continue their enquiries.
Detectives seek witnesses
Detective Inspector Shaun Inkpen, of Dorset Police’s Major Crime Team, said the investigation into the death is ongoing and the victim's family is being kept updated.
“We have been carrying out an extensive investigation into this death," Inkpen said.
Detectives are now releasing an image of a man they would like to trace as a potential witness to the assault that occurred nearly a year ago.
“I would like to stress that we are looking to speak to this individual purely as a witness, as they were in the area at the relevant time and may have information to assist our enquiries," Inkpen added.
“If the person recognises themselves from the published image, I would ask them to please make contact with us."
Anyone with information regarding the identity of the potential witness is encouraged to contact Dorset Police directly.
