Police in Dorset are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information after a woman was reportedly racially abused - as she waited to catch the chain ferry from Studland to Sandbanks with her son.

Officers are currently investigating the incident as a racially aggravated public order offence.

They say it happened at around 6.20pm on Tuesday 8 April.

Police Constable Aimee Holland, of Dorset Police, said: “We take all reports of hate crime very seriously and have been exploring all lines of enquiry in relation to this incident.

“I would ask anyone who saw what happened – and has not already spoken to police – to please come forward.

“I understand a number of members of the public supported the victim after the incident and I would like to thank them for their assistance.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55250049867.
