Dorset Police have made 'a number of arrests' after a reported assault and road traffic collision in Dorchester.
These arrests follow an investigation being launched by detectives.
It comes as officers say it was reported that at around 7.30pm on Friday 2 May 2025, two men were travelling in a white Citroen Berlingo van at the Top O’Town Roundabout when a man approached the nearside window on foot and allegedly assaulted one of the men with a glass bottle.
The men were reportedly able to drive away onto High West Street when they noticed the suspect was a passenger in a 4x4 black Volvo that was travelling behind them.
Dorset Police add that the vehicles travelled out of the town centre and when they were on Slyer’s Lane, they were involved in a collision.
It is reported that those inside the Volvo got out of their vehicle and assaulted one of the men from the van with a knife and a mallet.
The victims sustained injuries that are not believed to be serious.
Following enquiries into the incident, led by detectives from Dorset County CID, two men – aged 29 and 39 – from Dorchester have been arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed article in a public place, inflicting grievous bodily harm, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and a driving offence.
A 32-year-old woman from Dorchester has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.
All three individuals have been released on police bail as enquiries continue.
