A man has been taken to hospital following a serious collision in North Dorset late last month.

Officers from Dorset Police were alerted to an incident taking place on the A357 between the villages of Fiddleford and Sturminster Newton just before 5:20pm last Monday (May 26th).

When responders arrived at the scene, they found that a blue Vauxhall Astra had collided with a white Mini Cooper, requiring a major emergency service response.

Ambulances and police reinforcements were called to the scene and provided immediate medical treatment to the driver of the Mini, a man in his 40s.

The man was taken to hospital a short time later to be treated for his injuries, with police say are "serious, but not life-threatening".

A woman in her 40s, believed to be the passenger in the Mini, was also treated at the scene for her injuries, which were also described as "serious".

Police are now appealing to the public to come forward with any information they may have relating to the incident.

Police Constable Kier Dagnall from Dorset Police said: "We are carrying out a full investigation into the circumstances of the collision.

“I would urge any witnesses to the incident, or the manner of driving of the vehicles involved prior to the collision, to please make contact with us.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have captured relevant dashcam footage.”

Those who may be able to help officers in their investigations are being asked to come forward by calling 101 and quoting incident reference number 55250075084.
