Motorcyclist in serious condition after crash in Bridport

A 17-year-old motorcyclist is in hospital with serious injuries after a collision involving a white Mercedes-Benz A200 in Bridport.
The incident occurred at 12.03am on Tuesday, 7th July 2026, on the A35 Sea Road South at the junction with Hollow Way.
Dorset Police confirmed the young rider is in a life-threatening condition, and his family has been informed.
The driver of the car, a man in his 30s from West Dorset, has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences and is receiving treatment for injuries that are not believed to be serious.
Police Sergeant Richard Stroud from the Roads Policing Team emphasized the importance of witness testimonies:
“We are carrying out enquiries to establish what happened and I am keen to hear from any witnesses.
“I would also like to speak to anyone who may have been travelling in the area at the relevant time and captured anything on dashcam footage that may assist our investigation.
“Finally, I would like to thank the public while the road closure is in place. I know it is impactive at a busy time of day, but it is absolutely necessary to allow us to carry out a detailed examination of the scene.”
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 00:03hrs on Tuesday 7 July to a road traffic collision in Bridport. We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, two air ambulances, an operations officer, a doctor and a first responder to the scene and conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Dorset County Hospital and one patient by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.”
