A motorcyclist has died following a crash involving a van on the B3157 Chickerell Hill near to Bagwell Farm Touring Park.

The collision occurred at 10:22am yesterday, on Sunday 14th June.

The rider, a 24-year-old man from Weymouth, sadly died at the scene.

His family has been informed and HM Coroner notified.

The driver of the white Toyota van was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Road closures were implemented between the Fleet roundabout and Nottington Lane to allow emergency services and specialists to examine the scene.

Police Sergeant Dan Yates from the Roads Policing Team said: “Our thoughts are very much with the motorcyclist’s family at this very difficult time.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle immediately prior to it and have not yet spoken to officers, to please get in touch with us. If you captured anything of relevance on dashcam, please also come forward.

“I would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding during the road closures, which were entirely necessary to allow emergency services to respond to the incident and investigate what happened.”
