Moors Valley Country Park reopens after fire

Moors Valley Country Park has reopened after is closed yesterday afternoon (31st March) following a fire.

Crews from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue attended.

There were approximately 80 firefighters on the scene working to control the blaze involving around 10 hectares of woodland.

Moors Valley Country Park and Forest gave this update on social media:

"Moors Valley has now reopened.

Our team have been busy assessing the impact of yesterdays fire incident. Around 10 hectares of woodland has been impacted.

The rangers are continuing to monitor the area closely. We are asking visitors to stick to the main paths and avoid entering the affected woodland areas.

Please note, section 6 of the singletrack is temporarily closed.

Thank you for your support."

The Park had been closed earlier this morning due to forecast high winds.

In a post yesterday they thanked Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and everyone involved in helping contain and manage this situation."
