Man suffers life-threatening injuries in electric scooter collision in Bournemouth

Dorset Police are investigating a serious collision involving an electric scooter in Bournemouth that left one man with life-threatening injuries.

The collision happened at 1.55am on Monday 5th January 2026 on Old Christchurch Road, opposite the Popworld nightclub.

The rider of the electric scooter, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are believed to be life-threatening.

Police say his family has been informed.

A passenger on the scooter, a man in his 30s, sustained minor injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage from the area to assist their investigation.

Sergeant Mike Burt, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, said: “We are carrying out a full investigation to establish the circumstances of this collision and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please contact us.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the manner of riding of the electric scooter in the vicinity around the relevant timeframe or motorists with relevant dashcam footage.”
