Man released on conditional bail after arrest over rape

A man from Poundbury has been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries as police investigate a rape in Clifton Place.

Police received a report at 2.44am on Thursday that a man had raped a woman aged in her 20s, with the incident reported to have occurred at around 2am.

Detective Chief Inspector George Graham, of Dorset County CID, said: “We are continuing to support the victim and she is being kept updated with developments in the investigation.

“Our investigation is continuing and we are still appealing for any witnesses, or anyone who may have captured relevant dashcam, home CCTV or doorbell camera footage, to please come forward.

“We recognised that an incident of this nature may cause concern for the local community and officers can be approached by anyone with information or concerns.”
