Man in his 20s dies after collision in Poole
A 51-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences
A man in his 20s has died after collision in Poole in the early hours of this morning (January 7).
Dorset Police responded to reports at 2.12am of an unresponsive man in Wimborne Road, near Heath Avenue in Oakdale.
Emergency services attended the scene, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say further enquiries suggest the man had been involved in a collision with a vehicle, which had failed to stop at the scene.
His family has been informed and are being supported by officers.
Road closures have been put in place around the collision site while enquires are carried out.
A 51-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences and remains in police custody.
Inspector Joe Wheable, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the young man who sadly died at this extremely difficult time.
“We are carrying out a thorough investigation to establish the circumstances of this incident.
“I would urge any witnesses or anyone who may have captured any relevant dashcam footage, or witnessed anything suspicious in the area, to please contact us. I would also ask residents with home CCTV systems in the vicinity to please review their footage for anything that might assist our enquiries.
“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures, which are in place to allow us to fully investigate this incident.”
Police are asking anyone who may have information to contact them.
