Man hospitalised after reported assault and dangerous driving in Poundbury

Police urge witnesses to come forward following disturbance in Corston Street

A man required hospital treatment after a disturbance involving dangerous driving and alleged assault in Poundbury.

Dorset Police were alerted to Corston Street at 7.23pm on Friday 23rd January 2026.

Reports suggest that a white pick-up truck mounted the pavement before three people exited the vehicle.

One of them allegedly had a baseball bat and is reported to have struck a male pedestrian on the arm.

The man suffered bruising and swelling to his arm and needed hospital treatment.

Following police enquiries, a 32-year-old man from the Dorchester area has been arrested in connection with the incident.

He was arrested on suspicion of threats to damage property, making threats to kill, assault causing actual bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon, and dangerous driving.

He has been released on police bail as investigations continue.

It has been reported that the arrested man and the victims are known to one another.

Police ask for witness help

Police Constable Nathan Wright, from Dorchester police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.

“I would also urge residents in the area with home CCTV systems or doorbell cameras, as well as motorists with dashcam who were in the vicinity at the relevant time, to please review their footage for anything that might assist our enquiries.”
