A 24-year-old man has been found not guilty of raping a woman in a wooded area in Bournemouth.

Mohammed Fathi Eltbie, from Egypt, was cleared following a trial at Bournemouth Crown Court over the alleged attack on the woman aged in her 30s on November 5th 2025.

The complainant alleged that Mr Eltbie had raped her after she changed her mind and refused to perform a sex act on him after having agreed to do so for money.

The court heard that Mr Eltbie said that the sex was consensual and she had only become angry because he had given her his bank card instead of cash.

A preliminary hearing at Poole Magistrates’ Court in November 2025 was told that the Egyptian national had been refused asylum to be in the country in January 2025, having entered the UK in July 2023, meaning that his asylum status was “uncertain” at the time of the hearing.
