A 40-year-old man has denied the murder of a Wiltshire man after his remains were found in Somerset.

Michael Bretton, from Shaftesbury, Dorset, appeared at Bristol Crown Court charged with the murder of 39-year-old Craig Hurcombe from Rwode.

Human remains, formally identified as Mr Hurcombe's, were found on January 14 during searches in the Gurney Slade area of Somerset, after he was last seen on New Year's Day.

Bretton is next due to appear in court for a case management hearing on May 5.

A trial date has been set for July 13 and is expected to last 10 to 12 weeks.
