Two men arrested after a man assaulted in Weymouth

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a reported serious assault in Weymouth.

Police received a report of a serious assault on Westham Bridge at 5.14pm yesterday. A local man in his 30s was repeatedly punched in the head and sustained a serious ear injury.

Two men from Weymouth - aged 21 and 23 – were arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent. Both men currently remain in police custody.

The victim was treated in hospital for his injury.

Police Constable Chloe Seaward, of Dorset Police, said: “We are investigating this reported assault and appealing for any witnesses who saw what happened to get in touch with us."

“I would also ask any motorists who were driving across Westham Bridge at the time of the incident to please review their dashcam and come forward if they have captured anything of relevance.”
