Father and son sentenced for vehicle collision with man in Bournemouth

A father and son have been jailed following a police investigation into a vehicle colliding with a man in Bournemouth.

21 year-old Vinny Dean Conrad Morgan, was found guilty following a trial at Bournemouth Crown Court of offences of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, conspiracy to commit affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

Conrad Lee Morgan, aged 55 from Bournemouth, was also found guilty of conspiracy to commit affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

The incident took place in Etches Close on the evening of Monday 7 October 2024. Emergency services attended and the man, aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment to a serious injury to his left leg. The leg was subsequently amputated.

It was reported that the victim had been hit by a black Range Rover. Following a search of the area, a vehicle matching the description was found by police unoccupied nearby on Hoxley Road. The Range Rover was found to have false plates and had been reported stolen. Officers linked the vehicle to the collision through blood on the front of the car.

The defendants being identified by CCTV as the occupants of the vehicle on the evening of the collision. The two were also seen wielding baseball bats and shortly before the collision were involved in an altercation with two other men in Etches Close.

At their sentencing hearing yesterday, Vinny Morgan was jailed for a total of 13 years and six months. He was also disqualified from driving for 10 years and nine months.

Conrad Morgan received a nine month prison sentence.

Detective Sergeant Sarah Hodgson, of BCP CID, said: “This was a shockingly violent and dangerous act involving a vehicle deliberately being driven at an innocent member of the public."

“The victim has suffered a horrendous injury as a result, however, the actions of these defendants could easily have resulted in a fatality."

“Thanks to the detailed and fast-paced investigative work of the officer in the case - Detective Constable Hannah Duell - and the team, we were able to identify the defendants and quickly arrest them so they could be held accountable for their actions.”
