Fire at Corfe Mullen recycling centre causes significant smoke plumes

A recycling centre in Candys Lane, Corfe Mullen has been engulfed by fire, producing a considerable amount of smoke overnight.

Residents have been advised to close windows and doors to minimise smoke exposure.

The fire service received the call shortly after 02:30 BST and responded with ten fire engines along with water carriers to combat the blaze involving scrap metal and electrical items.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue reported that crews are striving to contain the fire and alleviate the "significant smoke plume" affecting parts of east Dorset.

For safety, those in proximity to the site are encouraged to keep their homes sealed by shutting windows and doors.
