The notes are Bank of Scotland notes, and initial observations suggest they do not have the typical characteristics of genuine currency.
Features such as raised lettering and sharp printing that are present on authentic notes are absent.
Business owners are encouraged to inspect notes carefully, taking time to feel for smooth surfaces, which often indicate counterfeit currency.
