Dorset's reform additional needs plan given Government approval
Weymouth councillor Clare Sutton has said "we should be giving more children chance to flourish"
Dorset's reform plan for children and young people with additional needs has been given Government approval.
Weymouth councillor Clare Sutton, who holds the portfolio for children and education, told a Cabinet meeting: “This is a vote of confidence in our strategy for improving services for children and young people with SEND and their families. We should be giving more children chance to flourish.”
She said that the partnership work in the area had been found to be strong and effective, with a high level of participation in training and multi-agency working.
Weymouth councillor Matt Bell said he welcomed the emphasis in the plan on early intervention.
“Early experiences can have lifetime consequences; this is about protecting children today and preventing future harm,” he told Tuesday evening’s Cabinet meeting.
