A serving Dorset Police officer has been dismissed without notice after being found guilty of gross misconduct for inappropriate behaviour while off duty, including sexually touching a woman he knew.

PC Remi Damiani, who worked as a response officer in Poole, was attending a boxing event while off duty when the incident occurred. A misconduct panel heard that he was ejected for being drunk, shouted obscenities at door staff and fellow officers, and attempted to use his police status to re-enter the venue. He also inappropriately touched a woman known to him.

The public hearing at Dorset Police Headquarters in Winfrith concluded on Thursday 17 April 2025, with the panel ruling that PC Damiani had breached professional standards, including Authority, Respect and Courtesy, and Discreditable Conduct. His behaviour toward the woman was deemed unwanted, inappropriate, and sexual in nature, though the panel noted it was not predatory or misogynistic, but rather out of character and linked to intoxication.

As a result, PC Damiani has been dismissed without notice and placed on the barred list, meaning he cannot be employed in policing again.

The panel also found his attempt to use his role to gain re-entry to the event amounted to misconduct, but did not uphold allegations that he was abusive towards colleagues.

Deputy Chief Constable Rachel Farrell said:

“I was saddened and disappointed to hear about the actions of PC Remi Damiani. The outcome of the panel reflects the seriousness of this behaviour.”
